The Providence Philosophy

Providence Philosophy

We believe that caregiving is a relationship of trust — trust shared among the caregiving team, medical professionals, the family and the person we care for.

The Providence team defines a job well done by the moments of joy we witness. We succeed when Mom and Dad have an enjoyable day filled with hugs, smiles and laughter. We succeed when families can focus on career and job demands, can be wives and husbands to each other, and mother and father to their children — confident that their parent’s care is in trusted hands.

We know that all elders — even those with memory impairment — experience the full range of human emotions — joy, fear, anger, delight, embarrassment and love. We know they suffer grief for the loss of skills and abilities that defined their personhood. We are committed to helping your Mom or Dad maintain her or his own maximum level of awareness, comfort and independence.

We carefully train our caregivers and empower them to care for elders with great respect and empathy. With boundless patience, they help your parent maintain life skills. Mom or Dad may even regain certain lost skills. No matter how insignificant such skills seem to the healthy, by ‘doing for themselves’, elders experience a sense of autonomy and dignity.

We believe the heart-felt care we give to elders comes directly out of the respect and support our team gives each other. Our philosophy of care extends to everything and everyone touched everyday by Providence. It extends from management, to clients and their families, to medical and other professionals, and especially, to our exceptional caregivers and their families.
