Providence Caregivers

Each of us, at one time or another, find ourselves in the role of caregiver. Sometimes it is as a parent and other times as a friend or neighbor. Eventually, many of us find ourselves the caretaker of our own parents. Undeniably, this is a difficult job — both emotionally and physically.

A Providence trademark is our high standard of caregiver training and supervision.

Our caregivers are trained to observe and report changes in a client’s health and behavior early, keeping family, physicians or social service providers informed throughout the tenure of care. All our caregivers must meet the same standards and possess the same qualifications as caregivers employed at our residential care community, Providence Place.

Galina, owner and founder of Providence, takes great pride in selecting the staff that she employs. As she has said many times before, “skills can be learned, but the heart is or is not.” It is a special person who is called to be a caregiver for the elderly. A piece of paper may show that a caregiver knows how to dress a person, but it does not show whether it will be done gently while preserving that individual’s dignity. Sometimes it is the small things that tell Galina that a person is a born caregiver. How do they prepare soup? Is it from a can or from scratch? At Providence we want to make everything with love and care — from the soup to our personal care.
